With people living longer innovative treatments are necessary for our patients to sustain their oral health. Older patients often take a plethora of prescription medications and suffer from the side effects of dry mouth. As manual dexterity decreases and the need for better oral hygiene increases it may become more difficult to help these patients maintain their teeth. Unique and innovative materials must be employed to meet their restorative needs.
Older adult patients often want esthetic treatment but may not be able to sit for extended intervals in the chair. Learn how to quickly place tooth-colored restorations which resist recurrent decay. Discover alternative methods to prevent smooth surface decay. Develop at-home regiments to help your patients. Dr Dan Ward will acquaint you with methods to allow teeth to last for a lifetime.

- Select appropriate restorative materials for use in the aged population
- Understand the concept of remineralization/demineralization

Subjects Covered
- Effect of prescription medications on the dentition
- Successful use of bioactive white restorative materials
- Tooth demineralization/remineralization

In today's economy the demand for direct restorations has dramatically increased. Baby Boomers and beyond are demanding options which are more affordable, yet esthetic. Many new tooth colored restorative materials have been designed for optimized physical and optical qualities. However, no single material universally satisfies the needs of our patients. The astute clinician must be knowledgeable about all the available materials when treatment planning and understand the techniques necessary to produce consistent results.
Given ample time, moisture control, appropriate size, and a cooperative patient, excellent results can be achieved with composite restorations. However, composite materials have limitations creating the need for alternative esthetic restorative materials suitable for use in less than ideal conditions. Discover materials that simplify ease of use, reduce post-operative sensitivity and reduce potential recurrent decay. This course is an excellent way to update your treatment skills and increase your skills in placing direct tooth-colored restorations.
